West Lothian 5 Beds + car space

The property suited our needs very well. With small improvements it would go from good to excellent. Positive: The location was good for our needs as there were three of us working at the Highland Exhibition Centre for the weekend. 20 minutes to the venue was great. As it's a three bedroom property it meant each of us had a room, perfect. The beds and other furnishings were comfortable and of a decent standard. The property was spotlessly clean and, for the most part well kept. Negative: When we first arrived at the property we struggled to get access to the Wi-Fi and consequently the TV. It was only after looking around more that we found the internet router in the downstairs bedroom and discovered it was off because the plug had been knocked out by the bedside table. Once it was rebooted (two attempts) everything was fine but somebody with no technology knowledge would have really struggled. The level of equipment in the kitchen was poor in some areas. The few pans that were there are old and need replacing and there is no standard frying pan. No plastic bowls for use in the microwave, and one of the gas burners on the hob wasn't working. A few larger bowls for serving a salad, fopr example, wouldn't go amiss either. The main bathroom, while clean and nicely appointed, could do with having a shelf in the shower, and a mirror somewhere near the sink. Lastly, I think a little "welcome" folder would be a good addition. We had to search through the TV cabinet to find the wifi access code (only discovering later that it was on an email), for example. Including the location and opening hours of the nearby convenience store is also useful in something like this. These are all tiny little niggles, but if addressed, this property would go from good to excellent.

Overall experience was fine. Beds and washroom basins were main problems. Value for money. Positive: Location was good. Negative: Bathrooms and the bed mattresses were poor. Basins were too small.

When we arrived weird smell welcomed us from the room where the fridge is. It wasn’t the fridge I assume it’s like moisture/mold smell. We couldn’t open the fridge properly because the fridge’s door opened to the door where you enter the room. In the fridges freezer there was leftover stuff from previous stays I suppose felt like somebody just left the house and we get it as it was. We never used the single toilet (the house has 2) because it wasn’t cleaned in and around. The plates, mugs etc. needed a second wash by us before use. There was no plastic/wood spatula only metal for cooking so probably that’s the pans were scratched. The oven was really dirty inside the rubber sealing was half off from its place. Upstairs the rooms were okay but still could be cleaned bit more thoroughly. There was a chocolate bar packaging in the bin left over. One room has a desk without a chair so it’s like useless. The bathroom is all right but super unusable tiny sink is quite funny. You can’t wash your hands without pouring water out. There could be at least a table in the bathroom you can’t put anything around, there is no space. If you walk around lots of crackle from the floor it’s a cheap renovation. Other then this the host was friendly, we had no hairdryer and cloth dressing but the host brought next day.
